Have you made up your mind to get that tattoo? Well, it’s a good decision but here are some things to have in mind before getting that tattoo on your skin.
1. Think long and hard
You shouldn’t wake up one day to realize you have a cartoon drawn on your skin while you were unconscious or in a drunken state. Make the decision while 100% sober.
What is something you always want to have with you, something important to you? Then, think of the best place for it, is it your wrists, chest, back, or arms?
2. Research the best tattoos parlours
Ask around for the best places you can get a good tattoo, you obviously would not want to get tattoo from under the bridge in Ikeja. Take recommendations from friends who already have a tattoo, you wouldn’t want to have a horrible looking tattoo on your skin or obtaining an infection from tattoo
3. Save alot of money
Don’t go looking for a cheap tattoo, it’s going to be on your body for a long time so don’t be hasty, save up so you can get the best tattoo
4. Brace yourself for the pain
Tattoos might hurt slightly before and after, and if you notice redness or pus, then it might be infected. Ensure you treat it as soon as possible.
5. Be ready for retouches
Tattoos fade off after a while so be ready to retouch it.
Biblical reasons you shouldn’t get a tattoo
Many people decide to get a tattoo because they feel its cool or it looks nice but have you bothered to know what the Bible says about it? As a child of God you shouldn’t do what others do just because they’re doing it, your sole concern should be; will God be happy with this thing I’m about to do?
A few points will be listed below about biblical views on tattooing;
1. God is against it
Lev.19.28 – Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
This command is very clear, and you should obey God not your own will.
2. Tattoo is of the world, you should be an influence to people of the world not them influencing you.
Romans 12:2 KJV
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3. Some people idolize tattoos, you’d hear them say this tattoo means alot to me. But you should not esteem anything higher than God. He should be your first priority, and you shouldn’t worship another god asides God almighty.
4. Your body belongs to the Lord and He said all the things He created is good so don’t assist him in recreating yourself.
Genesis 1:31 KJV
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Also you are the temple of the Holy Ghost so you shouldn’t defile your body but rather keep it holy.
1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
