Reverend Mrs Funke Felix Adejumo (FFA) has revealed how she was a stumbling block to her husband in their early years of ministry. She made the revelation while delivering a message titled “Don’t fight with your Zechariah”.
In the message, FFA said she hardly makes reference to her remote past with her husband adding however that she was being led to make the revelation.
Giving an insight into her background, she said, while in school she had planned to study Political Science and go into politics to embezzle money along with politicians. She however said the Lord did not allow her to achieve such ambition.
“Shortly after I dropped my pen after writing school certificate in 1978, I met the Lord. I was 14 years old then. When I met the Lord Jesus at 14 my life changed.”
She met her husband subsequently and they got married when she was 19. She however stated that her husband was never a pastor when she met him.
“I did not meet my husband as a pastor. It was something that came up after our marriage. But then I did not give him peace of mind when the ministry started.”
“I began to give my husband challenges. In ministry he could not hug any lady. I will ask him: Why did you hug that lady that much?. Everybody looked at us and said the ministry was growing. But if we had a misunderstanding on Saturday, the following Sunday will be something else. In church I will be seethed anger. My husband will try to talk to me, I will tell her don’t let me misbehave. I will tell him I don’t know how to pretend. He would say to me it is not pretense, it is maturity. People thought the church was growing but they did not know what was going on”
The altercations according to her continued for some time until she had an encounter with God that changed her behaviour and attitude.
She said, “One day, I had an encounter with the Lord. The Lord asked me: How will you want your funeral to look like? When I heard that I began to bind the devil. But the Lord said to me, it is not the devil, it is I your father that is talking to you.
“He said to me, you are becoming a distraction. You are not allowing my son to face front. I am planning to get another woman for him, who will allow him to fulfil my purpose, she will take care of your children and you will not be missed. What broke me down was the last statement that I will not be missed. My head became correct. I became lost in my husband’s ministry. I became digested in him. That was when I added Felix to my name so that they will know this one belongs to Felix.”
She said the encounter she had with God changed her attitude completely and made her to be more committed and supportive of her husband’s ministry.
“I began to go to sweep in the church. And I still do that. By God‘s grace he is established in ministry today. I am grateful to God for him. I can’t imagine my life without him.
While stressing that her number one calling is to her husband, she said, “I told God, if my husband fails, God should hold me responsible. My husband is a gift to me.”
She then urged women to support their husbands in all ways saying if they do not, “your skirt will tear”. She adds, “If you want to emerge, give your Zechariah peace. I became digested in my husband’s ministry. I will go to church to sweep, I will wake him in the night and tell him how handsome he is. I will sow to his ministry. If you kill your Zechariah with nagging, complain and comparison in whose house will you nurture your John.”
