• Pastor I. O. Abatan at RCCG 69th Annual Convention Tagged ‘A New Wave Of Glory’
    (Day 3, Elders Session)

Bible Texts: Isaiah 43:18-19, Acts 1:8, Luke 24:49, Acts 2:1-4
The Almighty God is interested in new things. The Almighty is willing to all us flow in this new wave of glory if we are ready.
I want to define some of the keywords in the topic to give us an understanding of the topic we are about to consider: The New Wave of Glory for Evangelism and Community Impact.

The word “New” refers to something that is recently made, created or discovered. “Wave” is an unusual sudden increase: it could be in behaviour, it could be in feelings. “Glory” is an overwhelming grace, beauty or splendor for admiration, distinction and praise. When glory comes you know it, you can’t hide it. “Evangelism” is a supernatural attempt under the unction of the Holy Spirit to win souls for Christ. “Community” means a group of people who live in the same area. “Impact” means a significant or strong effect or influence.

Therefore putting all of that together we can say we are looking at recently made or sudden increase in a type of behaviour that is so overwhelming, full of beauty for evangelism.

God endows us with giftings so that we can be useful vessels in His kingdom, so that there can be an impact in our community by evangelism.
As I prepared this sermon, the Lord pointed my eyes to the mission statement of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. There are about six of them:

  1. That we make heaven
  2. We are able to take as many people as possible with us
  3. To have a member of RCCG in every family of all nations of the world.
  4. To accomplish 1 above we need holiness because without Holiness, no man shall see God.
  5. To accomplish 2 and 3 above we must plant churches within five minutes walking distance in every city and town in developing countries and then 5 minutes driving distance in every city and town in developed countries.
  6. We will pursue this objectives until every nation is reached for Jesus our Lord.
If you look at the Church of God from Pa Akindayomi that God gave the vision of RCCG who handed it over to Daddy E.A. Adeboye you will see that the church has been running on a wave of Glory. It has not stopped over the years and to the glory of God this Church will be 70 years old next year. If you look around you will see the impact of churches planted everywhere across the globe.
There is a part of this mission statement which is yet to be fully fulfilled. We are yet to have a member of RCCG in every family of every nation of the world. That is why our Daddy in the Lord is ignited with the fire of a new wave glory that the Church of God must be running with to get a member of RCCG in every family in the world. This will be done using every category of people: children, teenagers, young adults, adults and the elders. No body is exempted.
This is a new challenge and the challenge is a new wave of glory. This new wave of glory is in this season because the coming of the Lord is nearer than you can imagine. Jesus said when the gospel is preached in every nation of the world and then the end will come.
Are you available? Is age on your side? Take solace that the giver of the command is the one who gives the enabling grace.
Approaches to Operate in This New Wave of Glory for Evangelism and Community Impact
We should remind ourselves that the anointing we received by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not in vain.
In the upper room they were just 120 and after the wave of glory, the Church grew by 3000 in one day.
    *Acts 2:41-47
  7. Fervent Ceaseless Prayers (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
The Church in RCCG has been praying but we can pray more.
  8. House Fellowship (1 Corinthians 16:19)
I challenge every hearer of this message that house fellowship must be your vision for your home.
  9. Begin To Have About Half An Hour Weekly Fellowship With The Paramount Rulers In Your Community
When a Paramount Ruler is born again, there will be peace in the community. When you do this, you touch the land.
You can reach out to the Kabiyesis, Emirs, Obis of your communities.
  10. Have Weekly One Hour Fellowship in Schools for Prayers and the Study of the Word.
Anytime you do this, it would surprise you the response you will get from students who want to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
  11. Reach out to Local Government Officials
Some time ago, there was a program that Daddy G.O. was going to start in Abeokuta. He said to me “Do you mind me coming once a month for Faith Clinic?”. I ran immediately to the Paramount Ruler and he gave me a letter to the local government officials for the biggest event center. Daddy’s coming to the land, did the land a lot of good.
  12. Distribute Tracts in Schools, Offices etc.
There is no day I pass through law enforcement agents at toll gates that I don’t give them tracts. When they ask what I have for them, I give them tracts and they are willing to receive and read them.
You never can tell what a single tract can do in someone’s life.
  13. Make outreaches to Hospitals and Correctional Facilities
    *James 5:13-14
  14. Embark on CSR
If you know anywhere there is no water, go and sink a borehole if you are financially capable. As you are doing that be distributing tracts and on the day of commissioning get a man of God to preach the gospel oto the people and the Almighty God will give impact to your message.
  15. Build Village Churches
In many villages, the church meets under a tree or within a bamboo structure. If you build a proper church structure, you will see the villages flocking there.
    *Mathew 28:19
  16. Christian Films
This is a very good weapon. There are a lot of anointed Christian home videos now, if you love your neighbourhood you can invite them to watch some. I know churches that have been planted through film shows.
  17. Technology
Technology today can help us to reach lots of people who we couldn’t reach before.
