WHEN DADDY KUMUYI WAS OUR MATHEMATICS LECTURER AT UNILAG, HE TAUGHT US TO PREACH PREACH AND PREACH

-Bishop Francis Wale Oke, President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (Day 4 of the Divine Connection Crusade)

Praise the Lord! Children of the Living God, praise the Lord! Amen.

It gives me great pleasure, and it is a great privilege to be here today, together with our National Deputy President and core Executive members of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria to come and celebrate with you, our Daddy, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, particularly on the occasion of him becoming 80 years old.

I had the honour of sending a congratulatory message to Daddy (I fondly refer to him as Daddy because truly, he is our Daddy). When I sent the message, I indicated that I would be glad if he can allow me to lead the core leaders in the PFN to come and felicitate with him on his birthday.

(Yes, it is an occasion of joy and your joy shall be full today. When you are going back home, you will go with overflowing joy. Every burden that the enemies have placed on your shoulders will be lifted today!)

And you know, I was surprised because was expecting Daddy to tell his secretary to respond but Daddy, in his typical humility called me. A man which has been greatly blessed of the Lord and is truly humble. (Can we give the Lord a big hand!)
Baba, we celebrate you sir!

So Daddy called and told me he was delighted but that since he will be in Abuja today, and since the leaders will be coming from every part of Nigeria (because they are here today from Kaduna, Lagos, Maiduguri, Jos, Abuja) Daddy said the best place to meet him is here today.

So, daddy, we are here to congratulate you formally, your children in PFN, the body of Christ recognise you as our icon, leader, father and mentor. We celebrate you sir. Silver and gold we do not have but a little toke to appreciate the grace of God in Baba’s life is this PAINTING with this caption:

WFK, OUR BASTION OF INTEGRITY

More grace to you sir. We Celebrate you, and we wish you many more years of meritorious service. You have spent over 50 years of your life serving Christ and according to Psalm 92:14, you will still continue to bring forth fruits in your old age and you will finish gloriously.

Daddy, on behalf of the Founding Fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, the Board of Trustees, the National Advisory and Executive Council, (some of whom are here with me today) join the Deeper Christian Life Ministry Worldwide and all the several millions of Daddy’s children, admirers and lovers wish you happy birthday and many Happy returns of your day sir.

Romans 12:5
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

We recognise that the body of Christ is one. For true believers and ministers, JESUS ONLY IS OUR MESSAGE. JESUS ONLY IS OUR SAVIOUR AND REDEEMER. He was the One who died for us on the cross of Calvary, who shed His precious and laid down His life for us. He was buried and rose up the third day to give us a brand new life and He has gone back to heaven to prepare a place for everyone who truly believe in Him. All who believe in Christ as Lord and Saviour are One Body, serving one Master, having one God and going to the same heaven. You better love me now because you may be my next-door neighbour in heaven.

We recognise that the oneness of the Body of Christ comprising of true believers. Daddy pioneered this move: the Revival which broke out in Nigeria after the civil war. God raised and anointed Daddy, and gave him the word of salvation, holiness which he has preached without compromise decade after decade. Praise the Lord.

When the bus thst was sent to pilot us TL church today (I was seated with my wife), she told me that I should look at what is written at the end of back of the bus: JESUS ONLY IS OUR MESSAGE.

I heard Baba preached and sang the message in 1976 in Ibadan. This is my own personal testimony. It was at Children Home School in Ibadan where the message was preached that I received the call for ministry. Daddy, we are grateful that you yielded to the call of God, we are grateful to God that you have been a shining example and you have been consistently consistent over the decades, not looking to the left or right, but going focused on the cross and going straight, you are an inspiration to all of us and you will continue to be till you finish your work in Jesus name.

Psalm 37:37
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

People who say we cannot be perfect are wrong, the Bible makes it clear that we can be perfect through Christ and Christ alone. The Bible says when you see a perfect man in Christ, you mark him so that you can be inspired to know that perfection and uprightness is possible and we can be like Christ. Daddy has preached and taught it very clearly in an uncompromising manner these past 50 years. He has demonstrated it and he is a man of impeccable integrity by the grace of the Almighty God. We have found the perfect and upright man and we know that the end of that man is good.

So to all of us seated here in Kado Worship Centre at Abuja and all over the world,
Hebrews 6:12
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

If there is anyone like Paul who can say follow me as I follow Christ, our Daddy is eminently qualified for that. In closing, don’t follow any man who is not following Christ. That person will lead you to hell. Hell is very real. Hell fire is at the end of a life without Christ.

When I entered the University of Lagos in 1977 where Daddy taught us Mathematics. He also taught us that when you enter any vehicle, you must preach, preach and preach. When you get to any house, you must preach and the message is JESUS ONLY IS OUR MESSAGE. I usually carry tracts on me everywhere.

I was moving from the department of…. and as a student, I waved down a vehicle to give me a ride. It was a professor in the University. I took a tract and gave him and began to share the gospel. He said, “Stop, stop, stop. Are you a student? What department?” I told him.

When he heard that I was an Engineering student studying Land Survey, he asked, “What is the shape of the earth?” That was exactly what we were taught the previous week, so I told him the formula. He then said, “You Christians, when you talk about heaven, you point up, and the earth is round. What is the geographical direction of hell?”

I won’t forget this experience, I think he wants to confuse me. When a professor is asking a young student questions, that is trouble. I quickly prayed to God and Holy Spirit to help me, and God gave me a word and I said,” Sir, God forbid that it will happen to you o, if you die in this condition, you will not only know the geographical location of hell but you will know the exact location of hell because hell is at the end of every life without Christ.

The man parked the car, opened the door and told me to get out of the his car. I didn’t know the Holy Spirit has sown the seed in him. Years later, I was preaching at a major convention and he saw my picture on the screen, he found his way to meet me and asked if I could recognize him. I said No. He told me he was the one who gave me a ride in 1977 and he repeated all I said, and said those words troubled him for years until he gave his life to Christ.

The man has gone to heaven. He died as a pastor. It was part of what Daddy taught us that I gave to him.

Daddy, we celebrate you sir, thank you, more grace to you.

We are glad, on behalf of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, we thank you for this opportunity, we thank you all for showing us love. As we enjoy the rest of the service together, you will go home with overflowing joy, and we too will go with overflowing joy.
