UNDERSTANDING THE DEMANDS FOR PROFITABLE STEWARDSHIP

WHEN YOU ARE ON AND OFF, YOUR BLESSINGS WILL RUN OFF.

HOWEVER, THE BLESSINGS OF GOD WILL CONTINUE TO MANIFEST UPON YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU ARE CONSISTENT AND FAITHFUL.

-Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr at CHoP

God is always on the lookout for the faithful to load them with blessings.
Your stewardship experience is loaded, but you need the tap of joy to draw the blessing that is available inside.
For our labour not to be in vain, we must depart from iniquity.

Our Father, we have come to give You the praise. We bless Your holy name. You are worthy of all praise, You are worthy of all glory, You are worthy of all honour.
Our Father, we thank You. We bless Your name.
Father, this morning, we have come to give glory to You, to honour You and to adore You.

To celebrate Your faithfulness. You have done all things well and we give You all the praise. Now Lord, our eyes are upon You this morning, asking that You O Lord will teach us Your way.

Give us Your light from heaven and let our lives be transformed. Thank You Father for it, in Jesus precious name we have prayed.

We began looking yesterday at this line of exhortation which we are examining all through the course of this week captioned:

UNDERSTANDING THE DEMANDS FOR PROFITABLE STEWARDSHIP.

We have established that God is not looking for who to use, but rather who to bless. We must never forget from the standpoint of scriptures that every commandment of God is ordained for our benefit.
1 John 5:3 – “…His commandments are not grievous”
If it is not grieve us, then what are the commandments of God for?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
The Word of God is for our profiting and it is not to punish us but to furnish us, to decorate us, to transform us, to deliver to us what is available for us.

According to Scriptures, we are made to understand therefore if there is a command from God, it brings no benefit to God.

Rather, it brings benefit to us. You and I must understand every commandment from God is an opportunity to be blessed and so is the commandment of stewardship.

Exodus 23:25-26
We see from Scriptures, God requires your service but then not for His benefits but rather in order to benefit us.

So every time there is an opportunity to serve, recognise it is an opportunity to be blessed.

God receives nothing from our service but we receive everything for our service.

That is why you and I must have the right attitude.

The attitude of seeing stewardship as an opportunity.
But we discover from Scriptures that God does not accept every service and until your service is accepted, it cannot be rewarded.

Hebrews 12:28
There is what God marks as acceptable service. The question is:
What is it that makes our service acceptable?

This morning, we are going to look at some of the qualifications for acceptable service so that our stewardship can be rewarded by God.

1. We must serve God faithfully
1 Corinthians 4:2
In other words, if you are not faithful, you will not be found. God is only looking for the faithful.

Proverbs 20:6
Wherever faithfulness is located, God is on the lookout. He is always searching to find faithful men.
And what is He searching for them for? Proverbs 28:30 – “A faithful man shall abound with blessings.”
God is always on the lookout for the faithful in order to load them with blessings.

And I tell You, God can’t be looking for something and not find it.

If He is looking for a faithful man, then it means that every faithful man will be found.
And if He finds every faithful man, it means He will bless every faithful man.
It is not just about serving but about serving faithfully.

What does it mean to serve God faithfully?
2 Timothy 4:2
… Be instant in season and out of season”: Be consistent. That is what faithfulness is all about. It is about consistency. Being dependable, being one that God will find on duty at all times.
Matthew 24:45-46
He will be found doing what He was left to do. He will find them on duty. That is a faithful man.

The question is this:

Does God consistently find you on duty?
Are you consistently on the task that He has given to you?

When you are on and off, your blessings will run off.

But when you are consistent and faithful, the blessings of God will continue to manifest upon your life.

-I pray that for each one this morning, the grace to maintain our faithfulness in stewardship, may that grace be made manifest in each of our lives.

2. We must serve God cheerfully.

Deuteronomy 28:47-48
If your service is to God, your service must be with joy. Where joy is absent, God does not receive our service. Our service must be offered joyfully.
2 Corinthians 9:6
The blessing of stewardship can only be secured when we engage joyfully.
Isaiah 12:3 – it means if there is anything to draw out, joy is required.
Where joy is absent, the blessings cannot be accessed. It will take joy to draw out on what is available.

You may have a borehole, you may have a water tank, but you will need a tap to draw on what the tank carries.

You see, your salvation experience is loaded. Your stewardship experience is loaded, but to draw the blessing that is available inside, you need the tap of joy. Joy is a vital requirement.

That is why when you serve God grudgingly, you will never gain access to the blessing of stewardship.

Hear this and hear it very well: people think people are rejoicing because they see blessing.
No.

People are seeing blessings because they are rejoicing. When you maintain your joy, you gain access to blessings. Some people get upset, “look at how the person is laughing: it is because everything is okay.”

No. Everything is okay because he is laughing. You must understand that the blessing is the effect of the joy. It is the outcome of the joy. It is not that you see something that makes you rejoice: No. It is that you rejoice that makes you see something.

Make sure you maintain a life of joy.
Even in the natural, if tears fill your eyes, the first thing that is blocked is your sight.

You can’t see well when you are tearful. In the same vein, when you are sorrowful, you will not be able to see the blessings of God. You can’t access them. But if you want to access them, then maintain your joy.
Somebody say, “I will rejoice.”

3. It is important to recognise for our labour not to be in vain, we must depart from iniquity. It is the 3rd factor but vitally important.
For our labour not to be in vain, we must depart from iniquity.
Isaiah 52:11
God says if you are bearing my vessel, if you are serving Me, there is a demand: Be Clean.
You must understand the necessity of maintaining a life of sanctity if you are going to secure the blessing of stewardship.
2 Corinthians 7:1
The promises are there Yes but you can’t have them without holiness. The Bible says, “without holiness no man can see God.”
So you and I have the responsibility to ensure that we maintain a life of holiness.
May God grant each one of us this Morning the grace to sustain a life of holiness and as we do, I see the blessings of God locating you.

Prayers: Lord, I receive grace to serve You acceptably.
Pray that prayer from the depth of your heart.
To serve You acceptably, that means to serve You faithfully, to serve You cheerfully and to serve You righteously. I receive grace.
