Philippians 2:9-11 KJV
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Unlike every other name given as an identity for every child being born, the name of Jesus is not an ordinary name. It stands to represent power of a supreme being, we see throughout scriptures that the name of Jesus is not an ordinary name, many people got delivered by the name of Jesus, the blind received sight, the dead rose back to life, all by the name of Jesus.
Jesus Christ was sent to the world to deliver the captive, to set the oppressed free.
Luke 4:18 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
So his name is not an ordinary name, even Peter while at the beautiful gate in Acts 3:1-9 delivered the lame man by the name of Jesus, no other name on the earth can set anyone free. Acts 4:12 KJV.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
So our salvation is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I will list a few points on the power in the name of Jesus
1. Power to heal
After the ascension of Jesus Christ to the Father, the disciples began to perform miracles in the name of Jesus which includes healing the sick, opening the eyes of the blind, making the lame walk etc all in the name of Jesus
2. Power to raise the dead
The name of Jesus has the power to raise the dead, because God has given all powers to Jesus,
Matthew 28:18 KJV
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
3. Power to save
When Jesus and his disciples were in the boat and there was a storm, Jesus spake to the sea to be calm and so it was. The sea obeyed the his power, and Jesus said the things he has done and greater things we will do.
Humanity can only be saved by the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12) because it is through the name of Jesus we can be reconciled back unto the Father.
You can also call on his name in times of trouble and he will save you,
Proverbs 18:10 KJV
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
4. Power to set the oppressed free
Have you prayed for the sick in Jesus’ name and the person got healed?
It is the power in his name that took away the sickness.
Examples were given in the scriptures where the disciples healed people in the name of Jesus aswell
That is to tell you that his name is not ordinary and shouldn’t be treated as one.
