TOPIC: THE SIGNIFICANCES OF CHRISTMAS

SCRIPTURE :Luke 2: 10. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday, on the subject of Christmas we consider the prophetic dimensions to Christmas. Today we shall be looking at the significance of Christmas.

Today is Christmas celebration all around the world, so I wish to say, Merry Christmas to you all.

The birth of Jesus is the greatest event that has ever happened in the history of humanity! It is such a significant event that both young and old, believers and unbelievers feel the impact of this event! Some felt the impact economicall6as they turn in more sales, make more profit, some felt it physically as gifts items are sent from places to places!

While for us believers in Christ we felt the impact both spiritually and otherwise.. I’m aware of the argument that the Saviour wasn’t born on 24th. Well, whether it is the 25th December or not, we are celebrating the Saviour not just the date!

Jesus is the only Man that every history revolves around Him! Infact without Jesus there wouldn’t have be a calendar because every date is either AD or BC pointing before the birth of Christ or after the death of Christ respectively.

So what then is the significance of Christmas?

It was Myles Murroe of the blessed memory that said if purpose is not known abuse is inevitable! If you see those who are abusing themselves, you are sure in touch with people who lack purpose for their lives.

The same applies to Christmas, over the years many have abused the reason for Christmas. Some see it as a deadline, so they are under pressure to meet up, some see it as a commercial purpose so they do all they can to get the economic value and some see it as a time to steal and commit all kinds of atrocities.

Some see it as merriments so they drink to stupor in the name of Christmas. Please understand therefore that Christmas was not meant for the aforementioned!

The following are the significance of Christmas

1. To give light to the Gentile;

Luke 2: 32. A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

Everyone outside Jews are referred to as Gentiles! So Jesus was born to bring us out of darkness.

2. It is a time to announce the great joy that, God sent to rescue humanity (Luke 2: 10). So it is a time of gospel campaign, winning souls for God.

So why the great joy?

A . It means termination of satanic bondage:
Hebrews 2: 15. And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage

It will interest you to know that humanity was in bondage before the birth of Jesus. But the birth and death of Jesus put an end to every bondage!
Today, if there be any satanic bondage in your life I prophesy that bondage is over.

There are several kinds of bondages; some are in bondage to addiction (drugs, smoking, alcohols etc), some are in bondage to pornography, some are in bondage to immorality, stealing, lying, cheating etc.

You know you are in bondage when you cannot live without a thing! You may call it a habit but anything you cannot do without is bondage!

The only person you shouldn’t do without is God, outside God whatever has caged your life such that you can’t stay anyday without it is a bondage. And Jesus came for this reason (1Jn.3:8)

B. It means termination of the restlessness of the devil (1Jn. 3:8) I’m glad to let you know that Jesus was born to terminate all works of the devil.

So as you celebrate Christmas tell
yourself no work of the devil is permitted to hang up around me anymore.

C. It means an end has come to the era of sin and commencement of new era of eternal life :

Matthew 1: 21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

What a great privilege, that humanity that had been in bondage to sin could be free at last! I don’t know how you feel, but I am excited about it.

Oh what a freedom, from the slavery of sin!

I don’t know if my reader has ever experienced the great joy of surrendering your life to Christ! Today is a good day to do that if you haven’t. The reason for the birth of Jesus is so that we might have life and that happened by being born again(1Jn.5:11-12).

Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. The decision of where to spend eternity begins now, give your heart to Jesus today.

Prayer points:
– Father thank you for sending your son Jesus.
– Today I say no to shame and reproach, sinful life and the works of the devil in my life in Jesus mighty name .

Prophetic Declaration :

– I declare your season of great joy shall be permanent in Jesus name.
– Recieve your Christmas package of great joy, abundant peace and prosperity in Jesus name

From your brother Alex
God bless you.

“`Merry Christmas“` !!!
