Thank God for Parents and the marvelous role they play in our lives and you will not but agree with me that some of our parents went extra mile in prayer, fasting, physical help and emotional and motivational talks and for some of us we got spanked when we were wrong and all of that in one way or the other got us where we are today.
Some parent try so hard to make their kids good but even with so much effort and keeping of the eyes on them, they still turn bad. It is not by your strength to make your children good or bad but in other for them to be good just as you want them to be, you need to stand in the gap for them in prayer; pray for them always and for those that are yet to marry or give birth you can still pray for your kids.
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a Prophet unto many nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
Some children didn’t want to be bad, they were meant to be nothing other than prophets unto many nations but there has been an uttering in the spirit realm, the devil is trying to mess with their destinies but with your prayers for them they will be victorious.
“… Pour out thine heart like water before the face of the LORD: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children…” (Lamentations 2:19)
PARENTING
It’s the best of job. It’s the most difficult of jobs. It can bring the greatest pain. It can cause the greatest pain. There is nothing as fulfilling and exhilarating. There is nothing so depleting and exhausting. No area of your life can make you feel more like a success when everything is going well. No area of your life can make you feel more like a failure when things are going wrong.
The word Parenting can bring contradictory emotions to the surface.
We try to do the best we can raising our children. Then, just when we’ve got the parenting terrain all figured out, we suddenly find ourselves in new territory again as each new age and stage presents new challenges. Sometimes we sail through smoothly. Some we encounter tempest and tidal waves. Sometimes we get so tired that we just want to give up and let the storm take us where it will. But we don’t have to be tossed and turned by these of chance. Our children’s lives don’t ever have to be left to chance.
You don’t have to live in fear of what every new phase of development may bring or what danger might be lurking behind every corner. You can start right now to make positive difference in your child’s future. It is never too early and never too late. It doesn’t matter if the child is a day old or thirty years old and going through the third divorce because of an alcohol problem. They will continue to be our children no matter how old they are and at every stage of their lives our children need and will benefit from our prayers.
The key is not trying to do it all by ourselves all at once, but rather turning to the expert parent of all time our Father God for help. Then, taking one step at a time, we must cover every area of our child’s life in prayer. There is great power in doing that, far beyond what most people imagine.
God wants us to be in full partnership with Him in raising our kids. He would shoulder the heaviness of the burden and provide wisdom, power, protection, and ability far beyond ourselves. We will do our jobs to discipline, teach, nurture and “Train up a child in the way he should go” knowing that “when he is old, he will not depart from it” (proverbs 22:6). We are to depend on God to enable us to raise our children properly, and he will see to it that our children lives are blessed.
What is prayer and how does it work?
Prayer is much more than just giving a list of desires to God, as if He were the great Santa Claus in the sky.
PRAYER is acknowledging and experiencing the presence of God and inviting his presence into our lives and circumstance. It’s seeking the presence of God and releasing the power of God which gives us the means to overcome any problem.
“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18).
This shows our God-given authority on earth. When we take that authority, God releases power to us from Heaven to effect it. Although, we are powerless on our own but when we pray, we allow the power of God to work through our powerlessness; thereby yielding goodly result(s) in the area(s) specified. Also, praying in the name of Jesus is a major key to God’s power.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” (John 14:6).
“But unto them which are called, both Jews and the Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:24).
Praying in the name of Jesus, the Christ paves the way for spiritual access to the things of God. Divine power to exercise authority, spiritual stamina growth, increase in spiritual capacity and answered prayers are the just a few of all we stand to gain in that Fellowship (Praying with understanding) with our Faith as a legal ground.
Our prayers should be effective enough to stand the test of faith and time. Relentlessness in prayer is paramount because though it might take awhile to see answers but the Bible encourages us not to faint or waver in faith.
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it: because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (Habakkuk 2:3).
Fervency is a prerequisite for answers to prayers. Like Daniel, persistency will go a long way. Do not give up now because the response is close. All that needs to happen in our lives and the lives of our children cannot happen without the presence and power (Jesus) of God. Prayer invites and ignites them both.
It holds a great virtue; praying about everything, especially our children. The earlier we realize how important every detail of our lives is to Him, the better. Also, it is not enough to pray for the concerns of the moment only; we need to pray for the future and we need to pray for the effects of the past events. Like David, after what had happened in his life and conceiving the fear of his future, he didn’t just say, “Oh, well, whatever will be will be.” He cried out to God about this past, present and future of his life (psalms 143). We should always do that. Start praying for your kids now, if you have not. Continue if you have started. It does not matter if you are still single or yet to conceive. Early prayers save.
Interceding for our children simply means enacting the will of God over their lives and dissipating the power of Satan over them. Meanwhile, it is expected of a praying parent to teach the children the Lord’s word, discipline them, guide them and help them learn to make Godly choices in life.
“Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”. (Proverbs 22:6).
With constant prayers for our kids, we can even stand against the accuser of the brethren on their behalf. Resist him and he shall flee.
Praying parents might not be perfect parents but prayer makes the difference. Standing in the gap for other kids, as led by the spirit of God is a plus.
