SCRIPTURE : Ephesians 5: 20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Beloved, I welcome you to the 1st day of May- the fifth month of the year,2022! We give thanks and praise to God Almighty for sending us His word all through the month of April. And as our custom on MODE, the first day of the new month is usually set aside to thank God.

Does that mean we can not thank God any other times?

Yes we can always do that at any time. Infact, we are here today to remind ourselves that as a believer, thanksgiving is not once and for all issues in the life of a Christian. It is meant to be part and parcel of our Christians journey on earth.

Thanksgiving was design to be a daily affairs not once in a year or once in a month!

From our anchor scripture, we Observed that thanksgivings is always, to God the Father and for all things;

_Ephesians 5: 20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;_

The key word according to this scripture is always! Always is an English word meaning- continually, constantly, consistently, unfailingly, forever, at all times, at any rate! Waoh!

So, wether the conditions are good or bad, God deserve our thanks, give thanks to God irrespective of what has happened so far if not for anything at least for His mercy and Grace enjoyed so far within the year.

How do I give thanks to God always? :

1. You must Understand that thanksgivings is the will of God, the Biblesaid:

1 Thessalonians 5: 18. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The understanding that thanksgivings is the will of God will help you to give thanks always.

Refusal to give thanks is saying no to the will of God. Hence thanksgiving is done with excitement when you know you are doing the will of God and it is never too much!

2. Understand that you can not thank God amiss. It is possible to pray amiss but not thanksgiving! Therfore give thanks to God always.

3. Learn to lay it to heart to give thanks always;

Malachi 2:2: _If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart._

Laying it to heart means, register it in your heart to consistenly give thanks to God for all the good things happening around your life, whether you are driving, walking, eating, sleeping or awake.

Don’t wait for spectacular events to give thanks, otherwise, the little glory you are enjoying will be curse for refusal to give thanks.

4. Do it promptly: Meaning don’t delay or postpone your thanksgivings:

_Jeremiah 13: 16. Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness_ .

When thanksgiving is delay it attracts something else. So give thanks timely, promptly on time.

5.Make thanksgivings a life style

_Colossians 3: 17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him_ .

Let your thanksgivings be habitual. Usually Habits are formed by repeated practice!

So make thanksgiving a repeated practice. Let it be part of your habit in life and it will remain with you for ever. It is a life time of committed thanksgiving that get the best of God.
