TOPIC: SPEAKING IN TONGUES VERSUS THE SPIRIT OF FEAR
Scripture:2 Timothy 1: 7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter!
The conclusion yesterday was that the Holy Spirit gives rest by imparting boldness. Today, we shall look at the relationship between the Holy Spirit and the spirit of fear.
From our anchor scripture (2Tim.1:7), understand that:
A. Fear is a spirit! If you understand this then handle your fears like you will handle any spiritual issues.
B. Fear is given! And it is not God that gives the spirit of fear. If you know the source of your fear, you can partially deal with your fear.
C. What God gives is power, love and sound mind! So whatever makes you weak or powerless, hateful and not sound in mind is not of God.
Beloved, most of the things we fear come because of lack of knowledge or inadequate knowledge, lack of love and lack of sound mind.
And since fear is a spirit and is not given by God then the devil must have been the one that gives the spirit of fear! Therefore God gave us His Holy Spirit to handle the spirit of fear!
How does the Holy Spirit help us to handle the spirit of fear?
A. The Holy Spirit emboldened us when we speak in tongues.
1 Corinthians 14: 4. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
B. The Holy Spirit gives us the spirit of love
Romans 5: 5. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
C. The Holy Spirit gives knowledge that handles fears.
Proverbs 11: 9. An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
D. The Holy Spirit helps us to develop sound minds through the word of God that helps us to handle fears.
Job 22: 22. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
What then is the relationship between speaking in tongues and fear?
Previously, we established that when the Holy Spirit fills an individual, that individual begins to speak in tongues!
It is now your continuous speaking in tongues that your organs of spiritual interaction are activated and as such fear is humbled.
Fear dies permanently. It bows out completely like an inflated balloon that is punctured with a pin. Hence, the spirit of fear and speaking in tongues are diametrically enemies.
The presence of one means the absence of the other. To maintain praying in the spirit is to keep fear at a distance!
Speaking in tongues is a doorway to the realm of the spirit, the realm of possibilities.
It takes you to the depth of God where knowledge abounds(1Sam.2:3) and knowledge is power!
On the other hand fear is a doorway to calamity and disaster!
Every evil you could imagine are waiting for fear to open door. Once the door is flung open to fear, evil begins to walk into that individual’s life.
Beloved, are you tied down by the spirit of fear already?
Kindly welcome the Holy Spirit, and cultivate the habit of speaking in tongues by so doing, you are building your faith and killing your fear;
Jude 1: 20. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real! The decision to spend eternity with God begins now, so give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points :
– Father, I receive grace to invest into my mind and grace to pray in the spirit constantly!
– Lord, I receive the sound mind from your word today in Jesus name.
Prophetic declaration;
– Your Father is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, receive the heart of a lion today! The audacity to take steps come upon you now in the name of Jesus.
– The fear that has kept you on the same spot looses its hold on you today in the name of Jesus.
