PRE-CHRISTMAS SUNDAY SERVICE – SUNDAY, 18TH DECEMBER 2022
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): PSALM 34:1-2

MESSAGE TOPIC: PRAISING AT ALL TIMES AND SEASONS
By: Dr Paul Enenche

SERVICE OBJECTIVE(S):
1. Understanding the times and seasons that are critical for our praise
2. Understanding the profit of praise at those seasons

The psalmist enjoins us to praise God at all times and seasons

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO PRAISE GOD AT ALL TIMES?
1. It is possible to praise God at all times when we praise Him with understanding (Ps. 47:7)

2. It is possible to praise God at all times when we praise God by decision, not just from emotion (Phil. 4:4; Hab. 3:17-18).
This is when you realise that joy is not a gift but a choice

WHAT ARE THE TIMES/SEASONS WHEN PRAISE IS NEEDED?
1. Seasons of manifestation (Luke 10:17; 17:11-19)
Seasons of manifestation are designed to be seasons of celebration
WHY WE PRAISE GOD IN SEASONS OF FRUSTRATION OR DEPRESSION:
1a. To acknowledge the faithfulness of God as the Doer of every good thing in order to see more of His faithfulness
1b. To thank God for what He has done in order to move Him to do what is yet to be done (Luke 17:11-19)

2. Seasons of frustration or depression (Ps. 42:5,11; Isa. 61:3; Acts 16:25-26)
When you praise God in seasons such as this, it is called the sacrifice of praise.
WHY WE PRAISE GOD IN SEASONS OF FRUSTRATION OR DEPRESSION:
2a. To destroy the climate of evil that is created by depression (Isa. 61:3)
The devil cannot oppress you until he can depress you
2b. To secure Divine intervention in the midst of your frustration (Ps. 42:5, 11; Acts 16:25-26)

3. Seasons of expectations delayed (Rom. 4:20; Ps. 106:12; Jonah 2:9-10)
This is also the season between the prayer and the answer
WHY WE PRAISE GOD IN SEASONS OF EXPECTATIONS DELAYED:
3a. It is the expression of faith in the faithfulness of God and that moves Him to action (Ps. 106:12; Rom. 4:20)
3b. It is building a memorial altar that reminds God of what He is yet to do (Jonah 2:9-10)

4. Seasons of confrontation/battle (2 Chron. 20:22-23)
WHY WE PRAISE GOD IN SEASONS OF CONFRONTATION/BATTLE:
4a. You bring confusion into the camp of the enemy (2 Chron. 20:22-23)
4b. You invite God to take over the battle (2 Chron. 20:22-23)

5. Seasons of Deprivation (1 Cor. 10:10; John 6:11)
These are seasons of scarcity and lack
Whenever it appears like you don’t have enough, don’t complain, celebrate
When you complain, you call pain (1 Cor. 10:10)
When what you have appears not to be enough it can be made to become more than enough by praise (John 6:11)
5a. You release the unction for multiplication (John 6:11-12)
5b. When you appreciate God for what is available, you activate from God what is desirable. (John 6:11-12)

6. Seasons of Confusion or Decision (Isa. 30:29-30; 2 Kings 3:15-17)
WHY WE PRAISE GOD IN SEASONS OF CONFUSION OR INDECISION:
6a. You connect with the light of His countenance (Ps. 89:15; 32:8)
6b. To connect His Voice of direction (Isa. 30:29-30; 2 Kings 3:15-17)

7. Seasons of Desperation for fresh unction (1 Sam. 10:5-6; Num. 21:17)
When you are desperate for fresh oil and grace it is a time of praise
WHY WE PRAISE GOD IN SEASONS OF DESPERATION FOR FRESH UNCTION:
7a. When praises go up, the Hand of the Lord comes down.
7b. Praise activates the release of potentials (1 Sam. 10:5-6; Num. 21:17)
