PRAISE, THANKSGIVING AND NOISE MAKING

TOPIC : PRAISE, THANKSGIVING AND NOISE MAKING

Scripture :.Psalm 47: 7. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! There are so many people making noise, yet they call it praise. Today, we intends setting a distinction between noise and praise.

Is there any difference between Praise and Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is an attitude of gratitude to God for what He has done, what He is doing and what is yet to do.

While praise is an outburst of an overflow of our excitement in appreciation to God. This why the Bible said praise is comely;

Psalm 147: 1. Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

This is to say, praise goes with excitement! If you are not excited or merry then forget about praise :

James 5:13 :.. Is anyone glad at heart? He should sing praise [to God](AMP).

Gladness /merriment or excitement is a prerequisite to praising God! It is not done in silence.

The distinction therefore is that praise often begins as thanksgivings but goes beyond it. Praise goes beyond just being grateful to expressing your gratitude to God by telling anyone and everyone who cares to listen the great and mighty things God has done for you. While thanksgivings is an attitude of gratitude to God, praise is an outburst of your attitudes of gratitude to God.

Our anchor scripture (Ps.47: 7) said we should praise God with understanding! If you don’t understand praise, you may be screaming and shouting just making noise and you will think it is praise.

Please understand that if praise is not done with an attitude of gratitude (Thanksgiving), then it is noise making! If your praise must produce results, it must be done with a heart of gratitude and having the understanding that It goes beyond emotional eulogy that we often give to men.

Is there any valid reason for us to praise God?

1. Yes, because It is in obedience to a divine commandment:

Psalm 150: 6. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Observe the above scripture says if you are still alive then give praise to God. If you are still breathing, then praising God validate it. Praising God is a must do because it acknowledges you are still alive.

2. Yes because It confirms the purpose of our redemption :

1 Peter 2: 9. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

You were redeemed to praise God! So praising God is fulfilling your redemptive privilege.

3. Yes because It pleases the Lord :

Psalm 69: 30. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. 31. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

Besides faith(Heb.11:6), praise is a way to please God! And when God is pleased, He releases your harvest, your blessing and your inheritance to you.

So, anytime you have the privilege to praise God, know it is an opportunity to please God, Therefore do your praises with all seriousness, don’t do your praise casually without any sense of seriousness, be it corporate or personal praise, do it with all enthusiasm and a sense of seriousness.

4. Yes because it releases your harvest :

Psalm 67: 5. Let the people praise thee, O Good Friday; let all the people praise thee. 6. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
