Some customers of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) at one of its branches in Aba, Abia State are seen cooking and eating noodles while in the queue to withdraw some cash in a viral video.

The viral video posted by ThisWeekNgTV shows how the customers turned the bank to a makeshift restaurant amid the prolonged cash crunch and naira scarcity currently experienced in Nigeria.

It was learned that the residents arrived on the bank’s property with pots, various cooking utensils, and camping gas, and proceeded to start cooking immediately.

The Central Bank of Nigeria had fixed February 10 as the new deadline for the swap of old naira notes, having initially fixed January 31 as the deadline.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Supreme Court on Wednesday temporarily halted the Nigerian government’s move to stop the use of old naira notes on February 10, 2023.

This was stated in a ruling given by a seven-member panel led by Justice John Okoro for an ex parte application brought by three northern states of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara.

Many Nigerians are currently unable to obtain the new N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, resulting in scarcity and attendant suffering in the country.
