JEHOSHAPHAT TECHNIQUES

TOPIC: JEHOSHAPHAT TECHNIQUES

Scripture:2 Chronicles 20: 3. And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. –

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encouter! Jehoshaphat was a king in Judah whose reign was a successful one. There are techniques he Adopted in dealing with issues such as threat, security and others. Today our focus is exploring Jehoshaphat techniques.

What is Jehoshaphat techniques?

It is simply employing fasting and prayer to handle issues as they arise.

Our opening scripture reveals the strategy of what to do when you receive sad news from unexpected quarter. King Jehoshaphat recieved a shocking report that three nations are coming to fight him and his people(2Chro.20:1). The technique he adopted was :
1. To seek the Lord
2. Call for a fast.

What does it mean to seek the Lord?

According to Merriam Webster dictionary to seek means;
– to search for (someone or something)
– to try to find (someone or something)
– to ask for (help, advice, etc.)
To seek the Lord therefore is to pursue after God! To ask Him questions about that burning issue of your life. To ask for direction of what to do, how to go about the issue at stake.

What then is the tool to employ in seeking the Lord?

Our minds is the main tool in seeking the Lord. Our mind is the gateway between the spirit and the soul! It is a place where information are processed. A distorted mind therefore might never be able to recieve answers from God even when they turn in to the throne of Grace. A divided mind can never find God. This explains why God said:

Jeremiah 29: 13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Beloved, if is Jehoshaphat techniques you are willing to adopt, know for sure that it must be with all your heart or nothing at all. If it is a business of seeking the Lord, it must be with all your heart! If it is not with all your heart, then it is an exercise in futility. All your heart means all your mind.

Deuteronomy 4: 29. But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Beloved, it is January to please God! It is time to seek the face of God concerning the year! Let your heart yearn for God. Remember your mind is the boundary line between you and the spirit. Therefore eliminate from your mind things that defiles. The Bible said:

Matthew 15: 19. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20. These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Don’t fast with any of these sinful life style mentioned above! Rather clean up your life if that has been your life style before now! This is why you must continuously give your self to Fasting. Ensure there is no bitterness in your heart too:

Hebrews 12: 15. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Bitterness defiles! So Fasting with bitterness in your heart is a waste of fast. Your mind is important in this business of seeking the Lord. The Bible said:

Titus 1: 15. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Please ensure your mind and your conscience is not defiled!
