TOPIC: INTRODUCTION TO BELIEVERS’ VICTORY
Scripture: 1 John 5: 4. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Beloved, welcome to another Moment of Daily Encounter! We give thanks and praises to God Almighty who granted us rest round about all through the month of July! I therefore welcome you to the month of August.
We understand from scriptures that we have been given victory in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15: 57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
However, it is not every child of God that is actually enjoying the victory delivered to us in Christ Jesus because of lack of knowledge of the keys to operate a victorious Christian life:
Hosea 4: 6. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
According to our anchor scripture, one of the keys to maintaining a victorious Christian life is Faith!
1 John 5: 4. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
We observe that if you are born of God, you have been positioned for a victorious life! This is because being born of God ushers you into the life of God which is a life of faith and faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
Why is faith the key to the believer’s victory?
1. We are saved by faith(Eph.2:8)
2.Obtain answers to prayer by faith(Mrk 11:23)
3. Live by faith(Hab.2:4, Rom.1:17)
4. We carry out exploits in this kingdom by faith (Heb.11:33-34, 1Sam.17:20-50)
5. Break through by faith(Heb.11:33-34)
6. We access realms of glory by faith (Jn.11:40)
7. It takes faith to understand God’s language (Rom.11:33)
However, the faith that makes for the believer’s victory is delivered as a mystery.
What is a mystery?
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, a mystery is a religious truth that one can know only by revelation and cannot fully understand.
So faith is a mystery because it can only be known by revelation! Hence, we have to rely on the Holy Spirit to unravel the revelation of faith that makes for Christian victory. We don’t understand this mystery by head knowledge, it is purely an operation of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has to paint a picture of what God is saying, strong enough for you to be convinced and then act. The action you take based on the conviction of what God told you is faith.
In order words, faith is an action that is predicated on the conviction received from the word of God! So in one word faith is obedience, taking action in the light of the revelation of the word that has produced conviction in you. Join me once again on this platform:
