How do I seek God first?

From the story of the creation in the book of Genesis, God and man communicated face to face until the fall of man, where a separation set in. Since that time till the first coming of Jesus, man had to reach God through a priest or a prophet. They no longer had the access to reaching God one-on-one. But Jesus Christ came to reconcile man with God 2 Corinthians 5:18

Jesus Christ having told his disciples about God the father left a desire in the heart of men; *How can I know the father?* John 14:6-11
But Jesus Christ also gave an answer that he(Jesus) is the way to the father. So for man to get to the father, you need to go through Jesus Christ by accepting him into your life as your lord and personal savior.
We need to know that seeking God is never a waste of time. When you go about God’s business, he is committed to solving issues that concerns you. Matthew 6:33 says seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you

Why should I seek God?

1. He knows us even before we were born and he knows what our future holds Jeremiah 1:5
2. His plans for us are good and not evil Jeremiah 29:11
3. He knows the end from the beginning, so journeying with him will lead you into safety Isaiah 46:10

Having known why we should seek God, how then can we seek him?

How do I seek God first?

Call unto me and I will answer… Jeremiah 33:3
This is a blank cheque and it’s a proof that God desires that we seek him. He said seek me and I shall be found 2 Chronicles 15:2
So never should you fret about seeking God, rather come boldly Hebrews 4:16
1. Turn away from your evil ways(Ezekiel 33:11): the moment you realize that you are not doing what pleases God, it’s high time you changed your ways. Remember God doesn’t want the death of a sinner. Do not remain in sin
2. Be born again(2 Corinthians 5:17)
Accepting Jesus into your life makes you a new being. Jesus’ blood will cleanse all your dirty past and give you a new life
3. Have a thirsty soul(Psalms 42:1): When God sees that you are hungry for him, he will satisfy that longing. Matthew 5:6
No matter who you are or what your past looks like, Jesus Christ has assured us in John 6:37 that he will not cast you out, so get off your evil ways and call unto God.
4. Love God and the interest of his kingdom: If you are committed to God’s business, he will also be committed to your profiting. Matthew 6:33.
5. Read your Bible daily: Joshua 1:8 says …thou shall meditate therein day and night…
So it’s a daily practice to read your Bible because this is the food of the spirit. From reading the Bible, you will get more understanding on how to seek God’s face
6. Have a prayer time and prayer altar. We seek the face of God in the place of prayer. Prayer is communication between God and man, how do you seek the face of God without communicating with him? It is from the place of prayer and study that you get instructions from God
7. Don’t go the way of the world: Psalms 1
Let the Bible be your standard for living, the journey might not be easy but do not cut corners. Keep your gaze on God
8. Be mindful of your association (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Consciously and unconsciously, your cycle of friends determines the outcome of your life. If your friends do not point you in the way of the lord, your life is already heading for a shipwreck. Psalms 1:1-3 if you think you can be the only man standing in your association beware because such is literally not possible for so long, they will soon make you like them.
1 Corinthians 10:12 KJV
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
9. Learn to make God the center of your decision making. Learn from David, he always asked God before taking steps and that has always granted him a smooth outcome. 1 Samuel 30:8
9. Remain steadfast:
1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Circumstances may come, making you think about making a U-turn, but always remember that He who has called us, He who has promised will never fail Hebrews 10:23

In conclusion, James 4:8 KJV
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

In order to seek God, you have to come closer to him, you need to draw nearer to him. It was when God saw the willingness in Moses that he decided to show Moses another dimension of Himself. Exodus 3:3-4
The choice is yours today to draw closer to God, remember he does not want the death of a sinner. Ezekiel 33:11
