TOPIC : GET UNDERSTANDING
Scripture : Proverbs 4: 7. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! As we wrapped up on the theme Wisdom for all round success, there is need for us to know that wisdom has two sides! It is just like holding a coin, if one sides of the coin is wisdom then the other side of the coin is called UNDERSTANDING!
Today our focus is on get understanding.
What is understanding?
Understanding is the ability to translate meaning from facts and to apply it. People with “understanding” are able to make meaning out of information. They are able to “see-through” the facts to the dynamics of the “what,” “how,” and “why.”
Our anchor scripture (Prob.4:7) instruct us to get understanding!
Why are we commanded to get understandings?
1. It helps you develop principles: Understanding is like a camera lens that brings the facts into focus and enables someone to produce principles. The understanding you have about life and scripture are what has formed the guiding principles from wish most of us live our lives. So if there’s no understanding, there will be no principle.
2. It helps you to become a principal in life: Without understanding, no principles can be applied! And life generally is governed by principles. It is the principles you know and apply that makes you a principal. You can never rise beyond certain limits until you understand certain principles and apply them.
There are principles to success, there are principles to wealth and abundance!There is a principle to answered prayers etc! Once you lay hold of any principle in life and apply it, you become a principal in that realm.
Hence God said (Prov. 4: 7) GET UNDERSTANDING !
3. Understanding helps you to be distinct in life. Your distinction in whatever you set your hands upon is a function of your understanding of who you are and what you are doing per time (Prov. 4: 5).
Beloved, before you step into that business get understanding! Before you step into marriage, get understanding of how marriage works! Before you take up that responsibility in your office get understanding. Dear pastor, before you take up pastoral assignment get understanding of how to pastor.
4. Understanding helps prevent destiny crash: It will amaze you to know that, no man flies an aircraft with guessing! Every Pilot has an understanding of how to fly an aircraft, they know the principles to engage to fly an aircraft! Life is more precious than aircraft, once it crashes, that may be the end! To avoid unnecessary crash of destiny then get Understanding! Don’t gamble with your life. There are so many destinies that have crashed, so many relationship have crashed just because of lack of understanding!
There are many who were once blessed with money, but lack of understanding of how money works and how it can be multiplied made them waste their resources. Today they are out there begging to survive! There are those who were once married before, but today they are out of marriage because they lack understanding of how marriage works.
5. Understanding bring rest and peace! It makes the Christian Life exciting: Without understanding your life as a Christian will be burdensome, uninteresting, full of pains and frustration:
Ephesians 5: 17. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Beloved, God is saying understand My will! Your understanding of the will of God has a way of bringing rest and peace because it gives you the principles of how to run your life with! But lack of understanding some times makes it look as if we are fools because what you don’t understand you can’t operate! Our wisdom is confirmed when we understand the will of God.
Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real! Whom you live for here on earth determines where you will spend eternity! Give your life to Christ today!

– Father thank you for your word to me today
– I receive grace to get understanding in all matters of life in Jesus name.
Prophetic Declaration :
– I prophesy the release of the spirit of understanding in all matters of life in the name of Jesus.
– The lack of understanding that has frustrated your life is over for ever in Jesus name.
