TOPIC: ENJOYING THE PERSONALITY OF THE THE HOLY SPIRIT
Scripture: John 14: 17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! There is this assumption in some quarters that the Holy Spirit is just an influence or a force! This is probably due to the fact that there is lack of knowledge of the personality of the Holy Spirit. Today, we seek to understand the personality of the Holy Spirit and how to enjoy Him as a person.
What do we mean by a personality?
It is the quality or state of being a person. It is qualities that make something unusual or interesting! So when we say the Holy Spirit is a person we do not mean that He has hands and legs like every other human being rather we mean He posseses qualities of a person!
What are the qualities that makes the Holy Spirit a person?
1. He is a person because of the use of the personal pronoun “He”, “Him” that is only applies to human personality(John 14:17)
2. He is a person because of His works which includes:
A. His work in creation (Gen 1:2)
B. His work in empowering (Zech 4:6)
C His work in teaching ministry (John 16:13)
D. His guidance (Isa 48:16; Rom 8:14)
E. His comforting ministry (John 14:26)
F. His prayer ministry (Rom 8:26)
G. His work of convincing the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8)
H. His restraint of sin (Isa 59:19)
I. His work in giving instructions or commands (Acts 8:29; 13:2; 16:7).
3. He is a person because He has the attributes of a person which includes;
A. He has a mind:
Romans 8: 27. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
B. He thinks that is He has reasoning faculty:
1 Corinthians 2: 10. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
C. He was emotional faculty hence;
I. He can give and receive Love;
Romans 15: 30. Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
II. He can be happy or grieved:
*Ephesians 4: 30. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.*
III. He can be insulted(Heb.10:28).
D. He has a Will. So He chooses whom to bestowed His gift upon:
1 Corinthians 12: 11. But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
How then do you enjoy the personality of the Holy Spirit?
Our anchor scripture has this to say:
John 14: 17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Therefore you must see Him as a person not a force! Received Him as a person! Relate with Him as a person, welcome Him as you will welcome your lover. Greet Him as you will greet your master just like Benny Hnn will always say good morning Holy Spirit!
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real! The decision to spend eternity with God begins now. Get prepare for it.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord help me to understand and appreciate the personality of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration:
– I prophesy wisdom and understanding of how to relate with the Holy Spirit as a person received it now in the name of Jesus.
-May the reality of the personality of the Holy Spirit be made know to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
