DEFINING LIFE FROM BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

TOPIC: DEFINING LIFE FROM BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

Scripture: James 4: 14. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In continuation of what we started yesterday on developing the right perspective to life.

We discovered that our view of life is largely conventional or traditional.

However if we must develop a right perspective we must view life from the lens of scripture..

Today is scriptural definitions of life.

What are scriptural way to view life?

1. Life is a vapour:

James 4: 14. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

The vaporization nature of life should make us think in terms of eternity. Understand how transient life is and prepare for eternity daily.

2. Life is a test.
It will amaze you to know that most of the things that happen around us in life is permitted to test us. Our love for God will be tested like He did to Abraham(Gen.22:1). Our hope, patience, humility, obedience will all be tested. Until you are tested you can’t be trusted! One thing is sure God will not permit any temptation that is beyond you to come to you(1Cor.10:13).

So when God seems distant away and you cried and pray yet he is nowhere, that may be your own time of testing like he withdrew Himself from Hezekiah to test what was in his mind (2 Chro. 32:31). Please understand that we all have different question paper therefore my test can never be your test, don’t copy me be your self.

3. Life is stewardship. The life you are living now is given to on a trust. The children, the money, the property you will ever acquire are all given to you on trust. Did you receive grace for ministry?, then you are a steward of His grace!

1 Corinthians 4: 7. For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive?.. ..

Beloved, if you can see those children that have come through you into this world as God’s own, and that you are just a manager, then you will direct them back to God.

If you could see the money in your account as God’s money, then giving to help people and the kingdom assignment will not be difficult. If you can see the talent/gift that God gave you as not yours then you will use it to the glory of God. A good understanding of your stewardship will give a mentality to serve for a reward.

In conclusion, developing a right perspective to life is viewing life from the lens of scripture, accepting biblical perspective to life as a vapour, test and as a trust or stewardship.
