THE DAYS OF YOUTH – RESPONSIBILITIES TO ACCEPT

Lamentations 3:27,
It is good for every one to accept responsibilities as a youth.

The youth who fails to accept responsibility becomes an elder who dies as a liability.

What responsibilities should we accept?

  1. The Responsibility of Maturity
    Genesis 25:27, Luke 2:40, Galatians 4:1
Where maturity is avoided, captivity is inevitable. Grow up, responsibility is placed on you to be far more matured than your age as a youth. David was making decisions for Israel as a youth, he tackled a national problem at age 17.

Maturity means you are proactive not reactive. You take the initiative and you are indecisive. You don’t make excuse for why things are not done, you are not looking for who to blame. Don’t blame anybody and don’t give any excuse. Make yourself squarely responsible for the affairs of your life.

  1. The Responsibility of Exemplary Living.

1 Timothy 4:12
Youth age is the age for exemplary existence. Youths, responsibility is placed for you for role modelling. As a young man, there should at least one young man who desires the life you are living, be an example.
The worst thing you can do to your junior ones is to be a negative example. If no body wants to be like you, in all probability your life is wasting. Let people who admire you and want to be like you be plenty.

I was in fifth year in medical school, during our prayer times a young man would always stay beside me. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was watching how I was doing it. That young man the day I laid hands on him to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, he prayed for 6 hours nonstop on campus, today he is a pastor and an Obstetrician and Gynecologist.

Don’t forget this: you don’t live to yourself, you live to yourself and your generation. You deprive the next generation the opportunity of positive role modelling and lifestyle when you fail to become who you are meant to become. If you have younger ones behind you, then you are duty bound to be exemplary.

  1. The responsibility of preserving a good name for your family.

Ecclesiastes 7:1 , Psalms 127:5
You have the responsibility of bringing honour and not shame to your family. On your account the only thing your father and mother should receive is respect not reproach. Don’t let anybody suffer to give birth to you and then suffer same on your account.

As long as you live be conscious of the fact that you represent a people that God has used to bring you to this word. Let the report that will come to your biological and spiritual parents is only good report.
