Commanding the Commander’ – Pastor Adeboye

IN THE NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY OTHER NAME, I AM COMMANDING EVERY DARKNESS IN YOUR LIFE, IT MUST GIVE WAY TO LIGHT TODAY.

Pastor E. A. Adeboye at RCCG Special Sunday Service. ‘Going Higher’ (Part 22)

1 Kings 18: 17- 20

Today we will look at something very interesting, ‘Commanding the Commander’. Here we have the Prophet commanding the King. The first question here is who is greater?

The King or the Prophet because in Ecclesiastes 8:4, the Bible says where the word of the King is, there is power and who can say unto him what doest thou.

The King is powerful, however, in 1 Samuel 15:26-29, we discovered that a king lost his crown for mishandling the dress of a prophet.

Power passes power. Who is greater, the King or the Prophet? What should be your greatest desire?

To be a minister of God or to be a minister of the Government, which is more, which is better?

You can be both but you know that when you are minister of the government you are likely to cease to be a minister when the tenure of the government is over but when you are a minister of God, since the tenure of God is forever then you will remain a minister forever.

One of the things you will thoroughly discover is that as you go higher in the Lord is who you really are in Christ. When you begin to go higher in the Lord, you will get to a stage according to 2 Corinthians 5:20, when you will become an ambassador of Christ.

That is not for baby Christians but for disciples, you must have grown, you must have reached a certain height in the Lord before you become an ambassador of Christ.

An ambassador is a representative of his country.
Matthew 10:40, Jesus said to His Disciples that whosoever receives you receives me and he who receives me receives the One who sent me.

When you reach the level of being an ambassador of Christ, you have the backing of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Almighty Himself because you are now representing the Most High.

Daniel 4:25 tells us that the Most High rules in the affairs of men. You become the ambassador of the One who according to Ecclesiastes 5:8, is Higher than the Highest.

Proverbs 21:1, says the heart of kings is in the hands of the Almighty God and He can turn it to whichever way He wants.
You become a representative of the One who lives forever.

Deuteronomy 32:40, the Almighty God says I lift my hands to heaven and I say I live forever.

A King can even be eaten up by worms, Acts 12:20-24
Which is better?

To be a king in this world or to be an ambassador to the King of Kings Himself. You are on your way to the top when you begin to command with confidence the devil himself.

James 4:7 says if you submit yourself to God you will resist the devil and he will flee from you. You are on your way to the top when with confidence you begin to command demons and they obey you.

Mark 16:17, Jesus Christ said in My name you will cast out demons, that is not for baby Christians but for those that have grown.

Acts 9:32-35, Jesus Christ made thee whole, that is what Peter said, I am not the one who made thee whole, I am His ambassador. As you grow higher in the Lord, you will become confident that you will have authority and that authority is because you have become an ambassador of Christ.

Power is one thing, authority is another. Authority gives you the ability to do something that you don’t even have the power to do for example, a policeman stands on the road, he sees a trailer driving down towards him at speed, he has no physical power to stop that trailer but he has the authority and all he needs to do is raise his hand and the trailer must stop, it is called authority, the driver obeys him not because of his size but because as a policeman he has the entire nation backing him up.

As you grow in the Lord, you will begin to know that you have someone backing you up and He is the Almighty God and in His name, you can do some mighty things.

I am praying for those of you who have been following this series that beginning from today, you will begin to exercise your authority. You may need to start small but you will grow.

When I became born again and I heard that if you lay hands on the sick they will recover, I wanted to practice, I wasn’t sure it was going to work, I remember those days when any of my children come back from playing and says daddy my head is banging, I will pray and I will make sure drugs is not too far away, I will pray for the child and put him on my leg and wait for what will happen.

The Almighty God will always meet you at the level of your faith, not once in all those days did I have to use the medicine because within five minutes the child will say I want to go and play or will be fast asleep.

Then I moved from trying out on my children to trying out on my friends, those that I know that if I fail they won’t go and ridicule me, my friends were coming one by one and I will pray for them and my confidence in the Almighty grew so that today I can pray for anyone by just saying the Almighty God.

I am saying this to encourage someone in particular because when you are going higher, you are not going higher for yourself but for others.

Matthew 18:18, says that whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven, whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven, use that authority because in the text we read today, something interesting happened, the King obeyed when Elijah commanded him, the King didn’t question him, remember the King has been looking for him to kill him, the fugitive is commanding the one who has been looking for him and the King obeyed.

I want to encourage someone today, darkness has no choice, it must obey light.
Genesis 1:1-4
In the Name that is above every other name, I am commanding every darkness in your life, it must give way to light today. Exercise your authority.

Like 10:17, the Bible says the seventy ambassadors returned again with joy and said even demons were subject to us in Your Name. Make sure that when you are exercising this authority, you do it in the Name of Jesus. Philippians 2:10, in the name of Jesus, every knee must bow.

I am appealing to you my beloveth, you have reached a stage in your spiritual growth that you stop playing church. If you have been listening to this series, by now you should be exercising authority.
Ephesians 1:19-23, all the forces of darkness are under your feet. Behave as if you believe the truth.

Acts 19:11-17, tells you one thing, God can perform special miracles by the hand of someone who used to be a chief of sinners, if He can do it for Paul, He can do it for you. It also tells you that the devil knows who you are because when some fake people tried to use the name of Jesus, the devil said Jesus I know, Paul also I know.

If you have been following this series up to this stage, the devil knows who you are, He knows who is dwelling in you, he is only waiting for you to begin to exercise your authority and you cannot exercise your authority if Christ is not dwelling in you but if He is dwelling in you, you will begin to command all those forces of darkness and they will obey you.

If you are not a child of God, you can become one today by inviting Jesus Christ into your life.

I am going to give you an opportunity right away, wherever you are, bow your head and cry to God and ask Him to take over your life, He will do so. Ask Him to help you, save your soul and He will answer you today. Thank you Father!

Let us begin to exercise our authority so that I can hear more testimonies from you.
God Bless You!
