TOPIC : THE SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING
Scripture :Psalm 116: 17. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Previously we established that light is key to living a life of sacrifice because how sacrificial a man’s life is, depends largely on the quality of revelation/insight/light on the subject of sacrifice. We have examine different dimensions of sacrifice. And today we shall be considering sacrifice of thanksgiving!
What is sacrifice of thanksgiving?
It is simply thank offering! It is giving of thanks that costs you. It is not done at convenience, it is thanksgiving done at inconvenience. It is a thanksgiving that must cost you either your time, energy or resources!
The first mentioned of sacrifice of thanksgiving is in Leviticus 7:12 where you offer your sacrifice and the priest partake of your sacrifice because it is been eaten before the Lord.
Therefore the sacrifice of thanksgiving is a special kind of thanksgiving that is presented to God with a heart of gratitude
When should we offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving?
1. When we experienced the love of God and our prayers have been answered. David did that in Ps.116:1
*Psalm 116: 1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications* .
Beloved, have you ever experienced the love of God? At least if nothing else, it was His love that brought you salvation (In.3:16)! So if you are saved by grace then you are requested to offer sacrifice of thanksgiving
Also, if you have ever received answers to your prayers, then thanksgivings of sacrifice! Do you know there are so many children of God who have received answers to their prayers that never returned to give thanks?
It will shock you to know that there are thousands of people who received their petition and stop coming to church. They only remember God when they have problem again. Please kindly check your life this year, count your blessings name them one by one and then return with a sacrifice of thanksgivings.
2. When you experience the help of God and His preservation power: David experience such, when he said:
Psalm 116: 6. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
This was what provoke David to say I will offer sacrifice of praise to God! Beloved, have you experience the help of God this year? Then you need to return with sacrifice of thanksgiving.
Besides, if you have experience the preservation of the Lord then sacrifice of thanksgivings is a must do.
3. When you experience God’s deliverance:
Psalm 116: 8. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
Beloved, if you have experience deliverance in any capacity, then sacrifice of thanksgivings is a necessity.
How do you do sacrifice of thanksgiving?
1. With a heart of gratitude: The first thing to have is a deep heart of gratitude. If you are not grateful don’t bother about offering sacrifice of thanksgivings because the first thing God look at is your heart before your mouth and your offering. The Bible said:
1 Samuel 2: 3. … for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
2. With a loud voice: You can not be offering a sacrifice of thanksgivings with a close mouth (Heb.13:15). When Jesus heal the ten lepers, one of then that return to give thanks did not do it in silence:
Luke 17: 15. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
3. With an offering: The sacrifice of thanksgiving is an offering with substance.
1 Chronicles 16: 29. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. The decision of where to spend eternity is best made now, give your heart to Jesus today.
Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today,
– Lord, I receive grace to continuously offer unto you the sacrifice of thanksgiving!
Prophetic Declaration!
– Recieve grace to proceed into sacrifice of thanksgiving endlessly.
– Any death looking for you and your loved ones before the year ends is hereby arrested.
